I’m Shazia, 25. During my first delivery, I was given an overdose of anesthesia. Thankfully my child survived, but I was left paralyzed from the waist down. It’s been five difficult years of trying to cope with the reality using my arms to drag myself around our one-room house to do my chores. I am like a caged bird with no wings. Doctors have said that I can one day regain my movement and my life, however it’s at an impossible cost for us to bear. I’d like to be a tutor for the neighborhood kids so that I can earn some extra money to afford my treatment, and one day regain my freedom. You only realize the value of something once you lose it.
